Ways to Create an Outstanding User Experience (UX) with SAP Fiori

Obtaining end users to adopt new technologies is critical to the success of your digitization. Here’s how SAP’s new user interface is delivering a consumer-like experience to corporate software while also enabling creativity.

Migrating your old systems to SAP S/4 HANA enables you to streamline your operations and receive benefits such as increased agility and innovation, which will help you compete in today’s digital economy.

However, in order to reap the full benefits of digital transformation, you must do more than simply migrate workloads to the cloud; you must also guarantee that end users adopt your new technologies, systems, and procedures.

A effective implementation necessitates digital adoption, which is described as “the ability of people to use digital technologies to their fullest degree.”

Many businesses struggle to reach this point. According to Forbes, 84 percent of businesses fail when it comes to digital transformation. Much of this failure can be attributed to the inability to modify user behaviour.

How SAP is Boosting End User Rate Of adoption

To boost digital adoption, make it simple for employees to use your new technologies. Any programme you deploy should be as simple to use as the consumer technology that your employees use every day, such as a smartphone or Netflix.

SAP is taking initiatives to increase digital adoption of its products and ensure that you soon realize the benefits of S/4 HANA. SAP Fiori, the company’s new user interface, is focused on consumer design to make corporate technology easier to use.

According to SAP, “SAP Fiori 2.0 is the latest iteration of the user experience for SAP S/4HANA.” The user-centered design philosophy focuses on how employees operate and provides a variety of business benefits.”

These advantages include:

Rationalization. SAP transactions can be complicated, and most users will not require all of the choices provided. Fiori lowers the number of options on the screen so that users only see what they need to see in order to make quick and informed decisions.

Customer satisfaction has increased. The minimalist interface of Fiori provides a better user experience. Because the system does not obstruct the end user, employees are less likely to become frustrated and abandon the technology. They will also not need to contact your IT team for assistance because they will understand how to use the new technology.

Data access on the go. Previously, consumers had difficulty accessing SAP data from their mobile devices. Because corporate data was protected by a firewall, sales representatives and remote workers couldn’t access it from outside the office. Fiori facilitates mobile data access. Fiori also harmonies the look and feel of the applications across platforms by using the same “Tiles.”

Create apps more quickly. Fiori is built on web standards, so anyone who creates mobile apps and websites may use it to launch Fiori applications. Because working on the front end does not require SAP programming knowledge, you may expose your environment to more developers, allowing you to launch apps faster.

Top 5 Fiori features that bring value to every Business User

These are the top five Fiori functionalities to add in your project based on our experiences with SAP S/4HANA customers. The majority of these functions are either offered operating out of the box or require just minor one-time configuration to get started. They are as follows:

Fiori Enterprise Search

Users can enter any reference, from a client name to a few figures, and receive a quick list of business items that match their search – entirely or partially.

Fiori Notifications

When users need to act, they will receive automatic notifications. Users will see all of their alerts when they log into the Fiori Launchpad, rather than receiving email notifications that get lost in their inboxes.

To enable notifications you need to:

  • Enable the Notification Center in the Fiori Launchpad
  • Activate the Notification Hub, i.e. the SAP Gateway Notification Channel
  • Activate notifications from a Notification Provider – we’ll use SAP Business Workflow as an example

Lastly you want to make sure your users know how to make the most of the Notification Center so we’ll point to the user guides that will explain general notification behavior and personalization options.

Fiori Default Values

Users can save values that they enter frequently, such as company codes and G/L accounts. This enables them to enter and search for data quickly within Fiori applications.

Setting default values is easy.  You simply need to:

  • Navigate to the User Actions menu (for SAP S/4HANA 1909 or higher) or the Me Area for SAP S/4HANA 1610 to 1809.
  • Select the Settings options in the menu bar
  • Select Default Values
  • View and if need to change the value of any of the displayed parameters

And if you have changed any of the values, press Save

Fiori Personalization

Fiori UX can be customized by users. They can, for example, change the color, contrast, and fonts on their display. They can also choose how many groups and titles appear on their home screen, as well as which notifications are prioritized.

User Assistance

Everyone requires a little assistance from time to time. Even when user interfaces are straightforward, it is comforting and supportive to know that help is always around.

It’s important to remember that your project team members are all business users at the outset of your SAP S/4HANA project. They may have extensive knowledge with SAP business processes and technology, but for many consultants, Fiori and S/4HANA are still relatively new, and they must be on boarded and enabled as well.

This feature instructs first-time users on how to use the Fiori interface effectively. It also offers ongoing assistance to users who want to learn more about a specific tool or term.
